Hodgson named president of VTASLA
Posted: Oct 5, 2008Jeff Hodgson has been named President of the Vermont Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (VTASLA). Doug Crowell has joined the Executive Board as a member at large. The chapter is focusing its efforts this next year on obtaining licensure for landscape architects. Vermont is the only remaining state without either a title act or practice act in place.
UVM Davis Center receives LEED Gold
Posted: Oct 1, 2008The University of Vermont, Davis Center has been awarded LEED Gold certification by the US Green Building Council, achieving 39 of the 40 points attempted. This makes it one of the first major new student centers to achieve this level of certification.
Wagner Residence featured in Design New England

HKWP Awarded Three VT ASLA Awards
Posted: Aug 7, 2007The Vermont Chapter of the Amercian Society of Landscape Architects has awarded HKWP the following 2007 Design Awards: The Jury's Award of Excellence for the Courtyard at Topnotch Resort & Spa, a Merit Award for the South Cove Residence and an Honor Award for the Thompson's Point Residence.
HKWP Wins Burlington City Arts Competition
Posted: Jul 17, 2007HKWP was selected as the winner of the Burlington City Arts 'Main Street Median Competition'. 4 Teams composed of landscape architects, architects, artists, traffic engineers and lighting designers proposed designs for the main street gateway to Burlington and the University of Vermont. A committee of Burlington and UVM officials selected the design by HKWP which focused on the shared commitment to the environment and sustainability that the two entities share. The design features a continuous ribbon of light in the median powered by a sculptural field of vertical axis wind turbines. Other features included horizontal entry walls, landforms and new UVM signage.

Smart Growth Award
Posted: Sep 1, 2006The Vermont Forum on Sprawl has awarded the Winooski Downtown Redevelopment project the first annual Smart Growth Award. The award recognizes projects that foster economic vitality in community centers while maintaining the rural working landscape. In addition the project has been awarded a national Award for Smart Growth by the Environmental Protection Agency.
